National workshop seminar on Physiotherapy in Muscular Dystrophy Diseases

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) Nepal, Muscular Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) - Nepal, and Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA) has jointly organized one day first National workshop seminar on Physiotherapy in Muscular Dystrophy Diseases at Yak palace, Narayani Hotel pulchouk, Lalitpur, to highlight the crucial role of physiotherapists in the treatment of Muscular Dystrophy (MD). As there is no cure for MD as yet, utmost priority should be given to achieving and maintaining the quality life for all individuals despite the progress and progress of the disease.

Mr. Buddhi Raj Bajrachary, Mayor of Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan city and member of Raj Parisad Standing Committee, inaugurated the seminar and he said that the government should lunch programs to bring awareness on MD diseases. As mayor of this city, I promise to bring these programs to the wards to homes" he said on the occasion.

Prof. Dr. J.P. Arawal (Neuro-Physician, TUTH), Dr. Rohit Pokharel (Orthopedic Surgeon, TUTH), Dr. Deepak Dangol (President, NEPTA) and Dr. Rajendra Pandey (Vice-President, NEPTA) present their paper in the seminar.

The disorder is mistaken for paralysis, polio, or witchcraft "said the chairman of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Nepal (PPMD) and secretary of Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, Nepal (MDF-Nepal), Anil K. Upadhyay. He said due to this disease, people uselessly spend their thousands of rupees seeking an alternative treatment. There are more and we need to provide emotional support to both MD patient and their families. Therefore, Physiotherapy as an important tool for life saving treatment and prolong of life.

Mr. Jai Prakash Agrawal, president of Muscular Dystrophy Foundation-Nepal (MDF-Nepal), "it is necessary to identify MD patients at an early stage and provide the proper treatment easily. In Nepal, previously there is no much research, official data, health policy or legal framework to cure and rehabilitee Muscular Dystrophy cases said in his welcome speech. He add, Muscular Dystrophy Foundation-Nepal is established with above mission and providing free physiotherapy, counseling services in the center and support and coordinate on diagnosis.
